Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is banned. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are for all intents and purposes required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel compound that highlights many conveniences aside from the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
